The former site of the Guizhou Aviation Engine Factory (Third Front) is a cultural relic protection unit of Guizhou Province.

The former site of the Guizhou Aviation Engine Factory (AVIC Liyang Factory) is located in Baiyun Town, Pingba District, Anshun City, Guizhou Province. It was an assembly and testing plant integrating engine R&D, production, repair, and service. Established in 1965, as a key national enterprise in aviation engine manufacturing, the Guizhou Aviation Engine Factory has never deviated from its core mission. Over the years, it has developed and produced thousands of engines across more than twenty models in the WP-7 and WP-13 series. Among them, two engine types have won China’s top national quality award (silver medal), and one engine type has received the National Science and Technology Progress First Prize. The Guizhou Aviation Engine Factory pioneered the export of military aviation engines from China. These two former Third Front aviation bases exhibit prominent features of the “mountain, scattered, cave” construction strategy, with their main facilities consisting of multiple natural and artificial cave workshops. The sites also bear witness to the profound impact of Third Front military-industrial efforts on the socioeconomic development of Yunnan and Guizhou regions, as well as deep ethnic integration.

On October 7, 2019, the former site of the Guizhou Aviation Engine Factory (Third Front) was included in the eighth batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level.

The town covers a total area of 86.7 square kilometers and governs 22 administrative villages, with a resident population of over 40,000. In recent years, Baiyun Town has seen significant economic and social development, with a thriving market and an economic system primarily based on building materials industry. In 2003, the town achieved a total industrial output value of 134.45 million yuan.
