Sanchahe Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

Sanchahe Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in Zhexiang Town, Zhenfeng County, 18 kilometers from the county seat. Sanchahe Lake is an elegant and fascinating tourist destination. The mountains in the lake area are lush and green; the water, crystal clear and blue; the trees, verdant; the rocks, uniquely shaped; and the islands, serene and refined.

Scenic Area Introduction

The scenic area features lakes and islands that complement each other, offering a distinctive charm. Lotus Island in the lake is dotted with stone staircases, stone gates, and stone caves; stone lions, stone oxen, and stone horses are exquisitely crafted; and stone tables, chairs, and benches are thoughtfully arranged. The shores of the central island are shaded by red maples and green willows, while the center is covered with lush green grass, creating a carpet-like surface for visitors to rest while boating. Sanchahe Lake boasts enchanting scenery all year round. In spring, the breeze is gentle, the waters shimmer, and peach and plum blossoms fill the air with fragrance; in midsummer, the sun shines brightly, trees are in full leaf, and flowers compete in bloom; in late autumn, maple leaves blaze like fire, rice fields exude their fragrance, and the moon shines bright; in deep winter, winter plum blossoms herald the coming of spring early, and clusters of emerald bamboo still sway gracefully. The distinct seasonal beauty of the lake forms yet another paradise on earth.

Famous Attraction: Shuangru Peak

Shuangru Peak within the scenic area is hailed as a “world wonder” and a “geological masterpiece.” Covering an area of 40 hectares and standing at an elevation of 1,265.8 meters with a relative height of over 261.8 meters, it strikingly resembles a pair of vivid, lifelike, and beautifully contoured breasts. Even more remarkably, the peak appears to take on the form of breasts at different stages of life when viewed from various angles. For instance, when seen from Guanfeng Platform, it resembles the breasts of a woman in her 20s; from a 500-meter angle, those of a woman in her 40s; and from another 500-meter vantage point, those of a woman in her 60s — a true testament to nature’s extraordinary craftsmanship.

At the foot of Shuangru Peak lie stretches of fertile land, irrigated by the jade-like ribbon of the Sanchahe River, nurturing the local people and sustaining generations. This has imbued the Buyi culture beneath the peaks with an even deeper sense of mystery. The famous couplet beneath the peak — “Nourishing essence, energy, heaven, and earth; feeding clouds, mist, sun, and moon” — has become the most memorable line for travelers from near and far. The local Buyi people have long revered it as the “Mother Earth” and the “Source of Life.”
