Wufengxi Ancient Town is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Wufengxi Ancient Town, officially known as Wufeng Town, is located on the banks of the Tuojiang River in the middle section of the Longquan Mountain Range, within Jintang County, Chengdu. It earned its name from the winding mountains that stretch from north to south and then east, with sharp peaks rising in succession—when viewed from afar, they resemble phoenixes soaring to the heavens. Of these peaks, five are particularly tall and pointed, and the five ancient streets are named after the Golden Phoenix, Green Phoenix, Jade Phoenix, White Phoenix, and Little Phoenix.

Sloping streets connect with half-side streets, featuring rich and distinctive Qing Dynasty residences, while the Guan Sheng Palace and Nan Hua Palace exude grandeur and harmony. As early as the Han and Tang dynasties, it was an important water dock along the upper reaches of the Tuojiang River, with four ferry crossings: Zhahu Ferry, Mingyang Ferry, Jinniu Ferry, and Luoba Ferry. At its peak, over 100 ships transported grain and handmade goods daily from western Sichuan to Chongqing, while salt, fruits, and foreign goods were brought back from Chongqing, Yibin, and Luzhou. These goods were then carried over mountain paths to Chengdu, 50 kilometers away, for sale. It was established as Baimao Town during the Song Dynasty and officially designated as a market during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty. Despite many historical changes, the town remained peacefully nestled among the mountains and rivers, enjoying tranquility and leisure. Wufeng Ancient Town boasts a rich blend of immigrant cultures. The Jiangxi Guild Hall is a gathering place for descendants of Hakka people from Jiangxi, where the term “lao biao” (a friendly form of address) is still used today. Ancient sites in the town include the Guan Sheng Palace, Wangye Temple, Huosheng Temple, Nan Hua Palace, and Bingling Store, located 1.5 kilometers from the town. Originally called Bingling Zhan, Bingling Store got its name during the Three Kingdoms period when Liu Bei, on his campaign against the Wu Kingdom, intended to build his tomb here but was opposed by Zhuge Liang, who constructed a shop on the site instead—thus “Bingling Store” (Store Occupying the Tomb). In the 14th year of the Kangxi reign, a disciple named Taizi from Mount Yun Ding wandered here, felt the spiritual energy of the place, and built the Bingling Temple. The Guan Sheng Palace and Nan Hua Palace have been listed as county-level cultural heritage protection units.
