Last updated 2026-11-08 — At 08:06 on June 2, 2017, on an unclimbed peak at an altitude of 5,155 meters in Diqing Prefecture, Yunnan Province, the footprints of 23 brave university students were left. With this, this previously unclimbed “unclimbed peak” was officially conquered by these student adventurers, marking the successful completion of the 2017 Snow Beer University Students’ Challenge to Conquer the Unclimbed Peak event...

On June 3, the self-driving tour “Tibet, a Lifelong Obsession,” jointly organized by Changjiu Letu Car Club and Evergrande Hotel Group, held a grand departure ceremony at Evergrande Hotel Jintang in Chengdu. Ms. Sang Yu, General Manager of Changjiu Letu Car Club, Ms. Tong Ximiao, Brand Director of Evergrande Hotel Group, Mr. Liu Zhijie, General Manager of Evergrande Hotel Jintang in Chengdu, as well as Letu car owners from across the country and multiple media outlets, attended and launched the departure ceremony, jointly wishing this Tibet self-driving trip great success.

After the departure ceremony, Letu’s chief team leader Yang Nan will lead the convoy along with over ten brave self-driving enthusiasts on their journey. Spanning 16 days, the route will cross provinces including Sichuan, Tibet, and Qinghai, covering nearly 6,000 kilometers by car, crossing over 20 high mountain passes at altitudes above 4,000 meters, conquering the famous “318 Sichuan-Tibet Highway,” and experiencing the breathtaking scenery of the “Qinghai-Tibet Highway.” They are expected to return triumphantly to Chengdu on June 17.

From Zhang Qian’s mission to the Western Regions to Zheng He’s seven voyages to the Western Seas, from the Silk Road to National Highway 318, from the “Western Development Strategy” to the “Belt and Road” development strategy, Tibet has been clearly positioned by the central government as a strategic hub and open gateway facing South Asia, and as a key area for opening up and development along China’s borders. All of this has endowed Tibet with even greater historical missions.

“Tibet self-driving” is widely recognized within the car owner community as a hallmark of a mature self-driving club’s activity organization, and it is also a lifelong obsession for every self-driving enthusiast. Therefore, Changjiu Letu Car Club and Evergrande Hotel Group have fully leveraged their respective resource advantages, actively responded to the national “Belt and Road” strategy, and after six months of meticulous preparation, on-site research, and route scouting, planned the “15-Day Tibet Ring Road Self-Driving Tour.” Through the form of team-based self-driving tourism, they aim to promote folk communication and exchange between Tibet’s ethnic minority regions and Han regions, jointly creating a “cultural heritage travel corridor on wheels.”

Members of the Letu Car Club are generally an elite group who are willing and love to travel. Evergrande Hotel Group, as one of the nation’s top leisure and resort destinations, highly aligns with the travel needs of its members. Since 2016, the two parties have provided members with a good experience through various cooperation models, and they will also engage in deeper collaboration in areas such as member interoperability and shared benefits—all aimed at providing members with an even better experience.

In the future, Changjiu Letu Car Club will continue to promote and carry forward the spirit of the Silk Road, intensify the development of all-for-one tourism products in regions such as Tibet, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu, and Inner Mongolia, deeply explore the natural and cultural tourism resources of the Silk Road Economic Belt, and create a comprehensive communication and exchange platform and a high-quality car lifestyle space for the majority of self-driving enthusiasts.
