Former Residence Memorial Museum of He Lin

Housed in an old courtyard from the Qing Dynasty's Qianlong period, the museum exhibits the manuscripts and other personal items of philosopher He Lin, along with the cultural heritage of the He family. Throughout the site, one can find symbols that embody ancient philosophical ideas: the location was chosen according to feng shui principles such as "dragon veins leading to water," with properly aligned Azure Dragon and White Tiger positions, a bright hall, and a formal screen mountain; the layout is balanced and respectful of hierarchy; architectural features include the painted clay inscriptions on the main ridge of the central house, the Taiji diagram on the central beam of the main hall, the rainbow beams in the ancestral hall and study, lotus-shaped door ornaments, plum blossom decorations in the main hall, the double-coin ribbon design painted on the hall’s crossbeams, sculpted beam supports, grand-beam doors, and latticed doors, among others. There is also a well-preserved family motto plaque over 200 years old, as well as family rules dating back more than 150 years.

Since 2011, this site has become a place of pilgrimage for scholars, researchers, and enthusiasts of philosophy, ancient architecture, traditional folklore, and even those aspiring to raise filial and virtuous descendants. It receives over 100,000 visitors annually.
