Lingkong Mountain
Lingkong Mountain is a national AA-level tourist attraction.
The Lingkong Mountain Scenic Area is located in Wulongchuan Township in the northwest of Qinyuan County, bordering Mianshan Mountain to the north and Huoshan Mountain to the west. Covering an area of tens of square kilometers, it is part of the Taiyue Mountain National Forest Park. The area features abrupt peaks, crisscrossing valleys, dense forests that block out the sun, and lush flowers and plants. In the central section, three peaks rise prominently, and the deep valleys are home to the renowned Shengshou Temple, which sits on a terrace in the valley; according to records, the Shengshou Temple, bestowed its name during the Song Dynasty, was originally built during the Tang Dynasty. The fourth prince of Emperor Yizong of Tang sought refuge here during the Huang Chao Rebellion and was captivated by the beautiful scenery, eventually becoming a monk. His younger brother, Emperor Xizong, commissioned the construction of an elaborate monastery for his brother. Since then, Lingkong Mountain has gained fame across more than ten surrounding prefectures. On the mountainsides to the north and south are small residential hamlets surrounded by lush farmland. The area boasts beautiful surroundings, a pleasant climate, mild winters, and cool summers, making it an ideal destination for tourism, summer retreats, and convalescence.
The Lingkong Mountain Scenic Area is an AA-level natural scenic spot and one of the “popular” attractions in Shanxi Province. It is a key project in the tourism development and construction efforts of Changzhi City during the “Tenth Five-Year Plan” period and is a site with great development potential and appeal for investment.
Immortal Bridge
The Immortal Bridge is a single-arch stone bridge with a three-bay covered corridor built on top, spanning only about three meters in width. Although its structure is simple, it is elegant and sturdy. Visitors often bend over to peer down at the bridge’s base, where they see a deep valley several zhang deep with a murmuring stream below, often feeling dizzy and as if they might fall.
Ridge Bridge
The Ridge Bridge is a crystallization of the wisdom and ingenuity of ancient Chinese craftsmen. It is seventeen meters long and four meters wide, featuring red pillars and painted corridors in a graceful design. It earned the name “Ridge Bridge” because it is situated among the mountain ridges and spans across them. Since ancient times, the Ridge Bridge has been the only pathway for visitors from the south and devout worshippers to enter the temple for prayer and worship.
Nine-Pole Banner (Nine-Ding Pine)
The Nine-Pole Banner grows on the rocky cliffs atop the peak of Shengshou Temple. Standing over forty meters tall with a root diameter of five meters, experts estimate its age to be over six hundred years. It is the most spectacular and largest-volume Chinese pine in the country, thus earning the title “King of Chinese Pines.”
