Qinyuan Martyrs' Cemetery

Qinyuan Martyrs' Cemetery is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

Located northwest of the cross street in Qinyuan County.

On the eve of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the Taiyue District Party Committee built this martyrs' cemetery to commemorate the heroes who sacrificed their lives in the Taiyue revolutionary base area during China’s revolutionary wars. The cemetery was founded on August 1, 1949, and officially completed on December 15 of the same year. The cemetery faces south and can be divided into three sections. Upon entering the gate, there are quaint two-story buildings on both sides, with a screen wall at the front. The screen wall has doors on the left and right for pedestrians to pass through, and behind it lies a small square. To the north of the square is the memorial hall.

Entering through the gates on both sides of the memorial hall, a tall Martyrs' Pavilion stands in the courtyard. The pavilion is situated on a nine-tiered platform, square in shape, with four pillars reaching skyward on each side. It has three levels. Climbing the steps and entering the pavilion, you’ll find a central martyrs’ monument, with commemorative inscriptions on its four walls from comrades such as -, An Ziwen, and Liu Kaiji. Comrade -’s inscription reads: “Eternal glory to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the War of Resistance Against Japan and the War of Liberation.” On the left and right sides of the Martyrs' Pavilion are two smaller memorial pavilions. Their platforms are lower than that of the Martyrs' Pavilion and feature a square structure with four pillars and four gates. The one on the left is called the “Glory Pavilion,” commemorating the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan. The one on the right is called the “Victory Pavilion,” commemorating the triumph of the War of Liberation. Right at the center in front of the Victory and Glory Pavilions, there is also a small, quaint pavilion. Going north through the passageway inside the Martyrs' Pavilion, you will enter the martyrs’ burial ground. Here, the remains of some martyrs who died in the revolutionary wars in Qinyuan are laid to rest in an orderly fashion. Surrounded by lush pines and cypresses, shaded by green trees, with neat tombstones and a solemn atmosphere, it is a place where people often come to pay their respects and honor the revolutionary martyrs. The exhibition hall within the cemetery displays historical materials about the revolutionary struggles carried out by the military and civilians in Qinyuan during the war years, serving as valuable educational material for youth to learn about revolutionary traditions.
