Taiyue Mountain Forest Park

Located at the junction of Changzhi, Linfen, and Lüliang in Shanxi Province, situated in the inland area of Shanxi and southwest of Taiyuan City. It was approved for establishment by the Ministry of Forestry in November 1992, covering an area of 900,000 mu.

The park enjoys a mild climate, characterized by a temperate continental climate. The area belongs to the middle section of the Taihang Mountains, with multiple streams originating here and flowing into the Fen River and Qin River. The vegetation in the park is lush, with dense forests covering 48.5% of the area, ranking among the highest in Shanxi Province. The forest structure is predominantly natural secondary forest, accounting for 89%, with the remainder being planted forest. The main tree species is Pinus tabuliformis (Chinese pine), making it a concentrated distribution area for Chinese pines in Shanxi Province, often referred to as the “Home of Chinese Pines.” Among them, Lingkong Mountain is home to the country’s largest Chinese pine known as the “Nine-Pole Flag,” acclaimed as the King of Chinese Pines. In addition to Chinese pines, other tree species in the park include Larix principis-rupprechtii (North China larch), Pinus bungeana (white bark pine), Juniperus rigida (needle juniper), poplar, birch, Quercus liaotungensis (Liaodong oak), and Acer pictum subsp. mono (maple). The park also boasts a rich variety of medicinal plants.
