Yanzhai

Yanzhai is a cultural relic protection unit of Shanxi Province.

Located south of Qinyuan County. From 1940 to 1942, it served as the political and military center of the Taihang Anti-Japanese Base Area. Important leading organs such as the Taihang District Party Committee, the Headquarters of the 1st Column of the Decisive Death Brigade, and the Headquarters of the Taihang Military District were stationed here, earning it the title of the “Little Yan'an” of the Taihang District at the time. Revolutionary veterans such as Chen Geng and An Ziwen once lived and commanded battles here, leading the base construction work in the Taihang District and leaving behind many valuable historical materials. In 1986, it was listed as a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit.
