Licheng Four Bridges

The Licheng Four Bridges are located in the Shangyao area of Licheng. In 1942, the Taihang region suffered a once-in-a-century natural disaster. The 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army and the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Border Region Government organized laborers from more than ten villages, including Shangyao in Licheng, to build the 11-kilometer Zhangbei Canal. This project helped combat the disaster, secure a harvest, and support the War of Resistance against Japan. To commemorate this effort, the people of the Taihang Mountains specially named the four bridges built on the canal as the "Bocheng Bridge," the "[Bridge Name Missing]-Bridge," the "Xiufeng Bridge," and the "Shengxian Bridge." These bridges symbolize the joint construction efforts of the Party, government, military, and civilians, remain well-preserved to this day, and serve as valuable educational material for passing on revolutionary traditions to future generations.
