China Root Book Art Museum

The China Root Book Art Museum is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The China Root Book Art Museum was built in 2014 and is located on Bodhi Mountain in Zhugen Town, Wutongqiao District, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, within a provincial-level scenic area. The museum covers a construction area of 2,485 square meters and features a three-story design: the first floor houses an exhibition hall showcasing the development history of root book art; the second floor is a fine root book exhibition hall; and the third floor serves as an art exchange center for root books, root carvings, and root ornaments. The museum houses nearly a thousand exquisite root book artworks created by Mr. Yang Yubing, the founder of Chinese root book art, over several decades, documenting his artistic journey. The museum officially opened to the public on November 1, 2014.

The design of the Root Book Art Museum features distinctive elements of Eastern culture, integrating local architectural forms such as traditional gateways and courtyards. Each step presents a unique scene, arranged in an orderly and picturesque manner, immersing visitors in a tranquil, classical poetic ambiance. The vivid, majestic, and dynamic art of root book writing highlights the museum’s unique charm, while the exquisite rare stones and masterpieces of calligraphy and painting further enrich its profound cultural significance.

The China Root Book Art Museum was constructed under the national initiative of “promoting great development and prosperity of culture,” with the support and care of leaders at all levels and various sectors of society. It was invested in and built by Sichuan Gen Shi Jia Culture Communication Co., Ltd., and is the only art museum in China dedicated to the art of root book calligraphy, filling a gap in this specialized field in the country.

The China Root Book Art Museum has been designated as part of Sichuan Province’s Cultural Industry Pilot Park, as well as recognized as a “National Social Science Popularization Base,” “National Copyright Demonstration Unit,” “National Cultural and Artistic Creative Demonstration Base,” “China Root Patriotic Education Base,” “Cross-Strait Youth Art Education Exchange and Internship Base,” “Sichuan Province Social Science Popularization Root Book Art Base,” “Leshan City Youth Patriotic Education Base,” and “Sichuan Province Primary and Secondary School Aesthetic Education Practice Base.” The establishment and opening of the China Root Book Art Museum is a concrete practice of implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, strengthening cultural confidence, fostering and practicing socialist core values, promoting the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, and building a strong socialist cultural country. It also represents a new highlight in the field of culture and the arts.

The China Root Book Art Museum is the first-phase building of the Gen Shi Jia Cultural Expo Park, which spans a total area of 36 acres with an investment of 160 million yuan. The park consists of distinctive artistic sections including the art museum, artists’ club, creation center, sketching base, training center, root stone research center, and root book art theme hall. Upon completion, it will be the only large-scale, comprehensive incubation art park in Leshan City that integrates culture, art, exchange, leisure, education, experience, display, and research.
