Ren Shou Caojia Century Pear Village

Caojia Township is a well-known “Century Pear Village” across the province and a provincial-level rural tourism demonstration township. With nearly 500 years of pear-growing history, it still has nearly 10,000 old pear trees aged between 100 and 500 years. The township cultivates pears on 22,000 mu of land, with an annual output value of 100–130 million yuan.

In recent years, the township has taken the development of a vast pear orchard and rural tourism as its main focus, vigorously integrating various agricultural projects such as small-scale farmland water conservancy, poverty alleviation through industry, and new rural construction. It has built 17.6 kilometers of primary and secondary trunk roads, 33.4 kilometers of sightseeing and access roads, and renovated 18.4 kilometers of irrigation channels. The area has tapped into pear culture resources, using history, culture, calligraphy, poetry, painting, and local characteristics for packaging and design. It has constructed a 6,800㎡ “Golden Pear Square” and leisure plazas, 3,650㎡ of garden flower stands, and renovated the facades of 282 farmhouses. It has also created a “Welcome to the Century Pear Village” sign and a tourist route map, restored the “Ode to the Old Pear King,” developed the Longhui Mountain Temple scenic spot, and uniformly numbered, labeled, and named all old pear trees. Additionally, it has built a cultural exhibition hall and pear garden poetry steles, artistically named agritainment spots and village roads, and created both a major and minor tourism loop around Caojia Township.

In April 2013, the county party committee and government invested over 70 million yuan to build the Caojia Tourism Avenue. Alongside the avenue’s relocation and resettlement efforts, infrastructure for new rural communities was simultaneously implemented at the Ranfangwan settlement in Shuixing Village, the Ruanjiagou settlement in Liyuan Village, and along the avenue. This included paving 5.8 kilometers of primary and secondary roads, 2.2 kilometers of access roads, constructing 4.2 kilometers of drainage ditches, 1.8 kilometers of garden flower stands, and renovating the facades of 74 households.

In recent years, the Caojia Township Party Committee and government have focused on the theme of “A Century Pear Village Across All of Tianfu,” fully promoting the development of rural tourism. They have actively guided farmers in building agritainment businesses and invested in infrastructure. To date, Caojia Township has been recognized by the province, city, and county as a Land of Quality Pears, an Ecological Agriculture Industrial Park, a Provincial Rural Tourism Demonstration Township, and one of Sichuan Province’s Top Ten Best Flower-Viewing Destinations.
