The China Climbing League is China’s premier climbing league based on a points system, organized by the Mountaineering Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the Chinese Mountaineering Association. It aims to provide a broader competitive platform for more professional athletes and to establish the most high-profile and widely promoted climbing league in China. As the inaugural event of the 2018 China Climbing League, the Lanzhou Anning leg, sponsored by the Gansu Jiantou First Construction Cup, set a strong foundation for the league. The exceptional technical skills displayed by the athletes allowed tens of thousands of spectators to deeply appreciate the allure of climbing. In the peak of summer, it delivered a spectacular visual feast for the public, showcasing the new developments in Anning’s cultural, sports, and tourism sectors.

This event featured a rich variety of competition categories and formats, including men's all-around, men's speed climbing, women's all-around, and women's speed climbing. For the all-around event, participants competed in speed climbing, bouldering, and lead climbing, with their final scores determined by multiplying their rankings in the three disciplines—the lower the product, the better the result. After three days of intense competition, a total of 12 awards were presented. The men’s all-around champion was Song Hualong from the Guangdong Climbing Club, with Qu Haibin from the Hunan National Training Team and Li Xinghui from the Guangdong Climbing Club taking second and third place, respectively. The women’s all-around champion was Baima Yuzhen from the Tibet Autonomous Region National Training Team, while Chen Zhuoying from the Fujian Tieguanyin National Training Team and Xiang Hongchun from the Hunan National Training Team secured second and third places. In the men’s speed climbing, the top three were Chen Zhixing from the Fujian Tieguanyin National Training Team, Yan Ruihong from the Shandong Prenat National Training Team, and Chilie Danzeng from the Tibet Autonomous Region National Training Team. The women’s speed climbing champions were Li Xiaoyu from the Hunan National Training Team, Chen Zhuoying from the Fujian Tieguanyin National Training Team, and Xiang Hongchun from the Hunan National Training Team. The ceremonial passing of the league’s flag to the next host city, Guangzhou Zengcheng, was conducted by Zhang Jibin, Standing Committee Member of the Anning District Committee of the Communist Party of China and Executive Deputy District Chief of the Anning District Government, who handed the flag to Wang Bing, the representative of the next hosting location. True to the league’s slogan, “Climb Beyond Limits,” the spirit of the league continues to thrive and move from one stop to the next!
