Mituo Temple is located about 1.5 kilometers north of the city, in the current Shengyang Group III, situated by the Jiangxi River. It was originally built during the Ming Dynasty but was abolished in 1950. Mituo Temple is located about 1.5 kilometers north of the city, currently in Shengyang Group III, by the Jiangxi River. It was first built in the Ming Dynasty, discontinued in 1950, and then rebuilt in 1990 with the approval of the county government on the original site of Lianchi Temple at Shengyang Cave on the outskirts of Jiancheng. The rebuilt temple is constructed in a classical style using reinforced concrete. It consists of a mountain gate, four halls, one cave, a bell and drum tower, guest hall, monks’ quarters, pagoda forest courtyard, and a liberation pond. Covering an area of over twenty acres, the expansive and majestic project stands as the foremost Buddhist monastery in contemporary Jianyang, serving as a serene sanctuary for visitors from home and abroad as well as Buddhist devotees.
