Chongqing Technology and Business University is a multidisciplinary university formed through the merger of the former Yuzhou University and the former Chongqing College of Commerce. It primarily focuses on economics, management, and literature, while also achieving coordinated development across multiple disciplines such as economics, management, literature, engineering, law, and science. The university has master's degree authorization in various disciplines. The former Yuzhou University was founded in October 1978. The former Chongqing College of Commerce was established in May 1985 under the former Ministry of Commerce. Currently, Chongqing Technology and Business University is jointly built by the central and local governments, with primary management by the Chongqing Municipal Government. It has been designated by the state as a key-supported university in the "One Province, One University" initiative for western China.

The university currently has two campuses: the main Nan'an Campus and the Jiangbei Dongjiaxi Campus, covering a total area of 2,014 mu. The main campus is located on Xuefu Avenue in Nan'an District, Chongqing, situated by the Yangtze River and at the foot of Nanshan Mountain, adjacent to the Chongqing National Economic and Technological Development Zone. With its beautiful environment, it has been recognized as a "Garden-Style Unit" and a "Civilized Unit" in Chongqing.

The university currently enrolls over 24,000 full-time undergraduate, college, and graduate students. It comprises 16 full-time undergraduate teaching colleges, 2 Sino-foreign cooperative education colleges, 1 applied technology college, 1 adult education college, and 2 independent colleges. It offers 9 master's degree authorization points in disciplines such as Regional Economics, Business Administration, and Environmental Engineering. Over the years, the university has produced more than 50,000 undergraduate and college graduates, many of whom have become key professionals in technology, management, research, and teaching, making significant contributions to national economic development and social progress.

The university boasts a faculty with strong disciplinary expertise and research capabilities. It currently has 1,866 staff members, including 1,252 full-time teachers, 574 with senior professional titles (including 132 with full professorships), and 698 holding doctoral or master's degrees. There are also experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council.

The university has been granted provincial-level academic evaluation rights for senior professional titles in the disciplines of economics and management, as well as for associate senior professional titles in mechanical engineering, Chinese language and literature, ideological and political education, mathematics, and chemistry.

The university has achieved remarkable results in discipline and program development. The "Yangtze River Upstream Economic Research Center" has been designated by the Ministry of Education as a key research base for humanities and social sciences in regular higher education institutions. The "Economic Management Experimental Teaching Center" has been recognized as a national-level experimental teaching demonstration center for economic management disciplines. The "Waste Oil Resource Utilization Technology and Equipment Engineering Research Center" has been approved as a Ministry of Education engineering research center. The "Regional Economic Research Institute," "Industrial Economic Research Institute," and "Business Management Research Center" have been designated as key research bases for humanities and social sciences in Chongqing. The "Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology Research Center" has been established as a municipal-level key laboratory for construction in Chongqing higher education institutions. Currently, there are 3 municipal-level key disciplines: Regional Economics, Industrial Economics, and Business Administration. Among them, Regional Economics is a key discipline prioritized for development during Chongqing's 10th Five-Year Plan. Statistics and Ideological and Political Education have been rated as key disciplines under municipal-level development plans, along with 9 university-level key disciplines including Communication Studies, Accounting, and Environmental Engineering.

The university places great emphasis on scientific research and technological development, adhering to the integration of science with economic development and actively transforming scientific achievements into productive forces to serve the economic and social development of Southwest China. Since the merger of the two universities, the institution has undertaken over 1,600 research projects at various levels, including nearly 50 national-level projects, over 600 provincial and ministerial-level projects, and over 500 consulting projects commissioned by party and government agencies and enterprises, covering decision-making, management, and technical consulting. It has received nearly 60 provincial and ministerial-level or higher awards for scientific research achievements. The university has developed a series of products, including high-efficiency vacuum oil filters and turbine oil-specific oil filters, screw steel disc cold rolling molds, cardiovascular parameter testing devices, and tremella fermentation beverages and their preparation methods, which have earned 26 national patents, including 4 invention patents. The TY-II series of turbine oil-specific oil filters developed by the university have reached advanced domestic standards, with some technologies reaching international advanced levels. These have won the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award, and the "Eureka" International Invention Award, among others, and have been granted 6 national patents. The university currently houses 35 research institutions, including the Regional Economic Research Institute, Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology Research Center, Information Technology and Social Development Research Institute, Chongqing Development Information Management Engineering Technology Research Center, Business Management Research Center, Industrial Economic Research Institute, Environmental Protection Research Institute, and Oil Purification Technology Research Institute. These multidisciplinary research institutions have significantly promoted the development of emerging interdisciplinary fields and overall research efforts, providing decision-making consultations and related services to governments, enterprises, and society.

The university has comprehensive infrastructure and complete teaching and research facilities. Its library houses over 1.6 million volumes, more than 2,500 Chinese and foreign journals, and hosts the first open mirror site of the China Journal Network in Chongqing. The campus network has been established and interconnected across all campuses, with 110 kilometers of optical fiber installed, over 18,000 information points, and more than 10,000 computers connected to the campus network. The university has built the "Global Development Learning Network Chongqing Distance Learning Center" and the "Education Data Center," with a backbone bandwidth of 1,000M. The campus network connects to the Internet through two exits—the China Education and Research Network (CERNET) and the China Golden Bridge Network (China Golden Bridge)—with a combined bandwidth of 1,150M. The network supports various digital teaching, research, management, and service information systems and digital resources. Additionally, the university is one of the main ring nodes of the Chongqing Education Metropolitan Area Network and provides services to surrounding universities and educational research institutions.

The university actively engages in domestic and international exchanges and cooperation, collaborates with enterprises in joint education, and explores the integrated development path of industry, academia, and research. It has established long-term and stable cooperative relationships with 38 universities abroad and Hong Kong MSI (International Professional Services Organization), and continuously strengthens friendly exchanges and collaboration with 15 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, and Southeast Asia.

Each year, the university invites renowned domestic and international experts and scholars to visit, lecture, and conduct collaborative research. It also selects outstanding teachers to participate in international academic exchanges and sends students to exchange programs at partner institutions abroad.
