A group of rock-climbing experts turned to theft, scaling buildings like "Spider-Man" without any tools, even reaching the 13th floor. On the 1st, police in Chongqing's Dadukou District detained this group of "building climbers."
Authorities said that since the beginning of this year, multiple cases of home burglary have occurred in succession in areas such as Dadukou, Shapingba, Yubei, and Nan'an in Chongqing. The perpetrators all struck in the early hours of the morning and entered residents' homes through balcony windows to commit theft. Through investigations and reviewing surveillance footage, police identified a group of young people who had come to Chongqing from Liangshan Prefecture in Sichuan to work as the suspects.
Through covert investigation, police found that the group rented a residence in the urban-rural fringe area near Sili Kilometer in Nan'an District, Chongqing. They would go out around 2–3 a.m. every day and return around 8–9 a.m., often carrying items when they came back. After gathering sufficient evidence, police arrested the group.
The gang consisted of 13 members. According to their confessions, they all grew up near the Daliang Mountains and developed the ability to climb cliffs from a young age. The gang leader, Qu, was a drug addict and, in order to raise money for drugs, led the group to start stealing. Their method involved scaling high-rise buildings barehanded and breaking into homes through windows. The members were capable of climbing up to the 13th floor without any tools.
So far, the police have confirmed 26 cases involving this gang, with the total amount involved approaching 100,000 yuan. The case is still under further investigation.
