According to the latest statistics from Chongqing Municipal Holiday Office today, on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, the local tourism market continued to warm up, with alpine skiing being particularly favored by residents. In addition, the Garden Expo Park also saw high foot traffic, welcoming 270,000 visitors over the four-day period from the first to the fourth day of the New Year.

Taking advantage of the extended Spring Festival holiday, many residents opted to travel with their families to celebrate the festive season. On the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, several major scenic spots in the main urban area welcomed a large number of visitors, totaling 1.4503 million tourists. Among them, the Garden Expo Park, open for the first time during the Spring Festival, was especially popular, attracting 55,000 visitors in just one day. Calculating from the first day of the New Year, it received a total of 270,000 visitors over the four days.
Meanwhile, major temples and amusement parks in the main urban area were also booming. Data shows that Yuzhong District received 448,000 visitors, Nan'an District 305,000, Shapingba District 182,900, Yubei District 174,000, Beibei District 145,400, and Jiulongpo District 195,000.
Popular getaways in districts and counties; alpine skiing gains traction
The extended holiday boosted tourist attractions around Chongqing, and with more people returning home for the holidays, district and county tourism has seen increased popularity. Among them, Wulong and Wanzhou were the most frequented, receiving 164,100 visitors (up 20% year-on-year) and 120,200 visitors (up 20% year-on-year), respectively.
It’s also worth mentioning that more and more people are choosing skiing activities. On the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, Yan Ni, who lives in Jiangbei District, went on a self-driving trip to Jinfo Mountain with her boyfriend’s family. Surrounded by snow-covered landscapes and experiencing the snowy scenery unique to the mountains—unlike what's available in the main city—they skied, had snowball fights, and even grabbed freshly roasted potatoes when hungry. Yan Ni felt the trip was well worth it.
Many other residents joined Yan Ni in enjoying the snowy attractions. Data shows that visitor numbers at the two major alpine skiing resorts in the city have been climbing steadily. Among them, Wulong Fairy Mountain received 25,500 visitors, up 28.6% year-on-year, and Nanchuan Jinfo Mountain received 14,000 visitors, up 27% year-on-year.
