On January 16, 2012, following the successful conclusion of the first batch of the Great Earth and Mountains National College Students' Wanlong Mountaineering Skills Winter Training Camp on the 13th, and with the strong support of Wanlong Ski Resort, the second batch of the training camp, organized by China University of Geosciences (Beijing)—the leading institution of the Outdoor Sports Branch of the Beijing College Students' Sports Association—kicked off at Wanlong Ski Resort in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province.
Participating universities and organizations in this winter training session include: China University of Geosciences (Beijing), University of Science and Technology of China, Fudan University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Beijing International Studies University, Renmin University of China, and the Wild People’s Group, with a total of over 60 participants.
At 8:00 AM, the opening ceremony of the second winter training camp officially began. During the ceremony, Chen Qing, head coach of the mountaineering and rock climbing club at China University of Geosciences (Beijing), and Wang Xupeng, representative of the organizers, delivered speeches. They expressed warm welcomes to the participating university groups and emphasized the discipline required during the training camp.
This batch of training is also the final one of the winter camp, lasting four days. It includes training in three activities: ice climbing, skiing, and simulated mountain climbing, with an ice climbing exchange competition held on the final day. Building on the success of the first winter training camp, the mountaineering and rock climbing club at China University of Geosciences (Beijing) is sure to run the second batch exceptionally well.
Finally, we wish this event great success!
