Macaque Cave

Macaque Cave is a mysterious and beautiful cave located on Macaque Ridge within Dongfang Li Autonomous County. It is a unique attraction in the Daguanba Tourist Scenic Area of Dongfang City, Hainan Province.

The cave extends over a hundred zhang deep, with an interior area of more than 2,000 square meters. The surrounding ridges at the cave entrance are densely covered with ancient trees such as yóunán, zijīng, and qīngméi. About 5 meters inside the cave entrance, there is a stone statue resembling a kind-looking woman. Macaque

In the front hall of the cave, stalagmites grow densely and stone statues stand in various shapes — some resembling macaques, lions, tigers, others like flying horses or lying sheep, all vividly lifelike. On the right side of the front hall, two fairy-like stone figures stand gracefully, radiating charm. There are also two smaller chambers in the front hall, shaped like a temple. At the center of the Macaque Cave stands a large Buddha stone statue, eyes closed, holding prayer beads, sitting cross-legged. In front of the Buddha statue is a group of small monk stone figures, each with different appearances but the same serene expression, all sitting upright with hands clasped in prayer. Behind the "temple" is a peculiar stone pillar resembling an ancient bell; when struck forcefully, it emits a deep, resonant sound with lingering echoes. The rear hall is larger in area and can accommodate over a thousand people. Inside the Macaque Cave, stone stalactites and draperies are abundant, glistening and translucent, dazzling to the eye.

Naturally formed, Macaque Cave is a relatively new attraction that has captivated visitors with its unique and stunning scenery, making them linger and forget to leave.
