Taipei Mandarin Oriental Hotel will celebrate its first anniversary on May 18. Today (5th), it has gathered nine Mandarin Oriental hotels across the Asia-Pacific region, including those in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Bangkok, Macau, and Sanya, to jointly launch a MICE promotion event. Fu Anping, Vice President of Commercial Operations for the Asia-Pacific region at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, said: “Taipei Mandarin Oriental has performed outstandingly in its first year since opening.” She revealed that the group has multi-location expansion plans in mainland China from 2016 to 2018.

Fu Anping said that every hotel goes through what is known as a “newborn period” when it first opens, during which it builds up guest numbers and occupancy rates. However, compared to other hotels in the group, Taipei Mandarin Oriental has performed quite well in all aspects within its first year of opening. She stated that the six-star luxury scale of Taipei Mandarin Oriental, aside from having the most distinctive exterior among the group’s hotels, also reflects the presence of a high-end clientele in the Taiwanese market. Additionally, she mentioned that currently 50% of the guests at Taipei Mandarin Oriental are leisure travelers.

Fu Anping further noted that there are expansion plans for Beijing and Chongqing at the beginning and end of 2016 respectively, with new hotels set to open in Chengdu and Shenzhen from the end of 2017 to 2018. Plans are also underway for South Korea, India, and Australia. Currently, the top three countries by total guest numbers for Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group are the United States, mainland China, and the United Kingdom. However, with active expansion in mainland China, it is estimated that China will become the group’s primary source of guests in the future.

In addition, to celebrate its anniversary, Taipei Mandarin Oriental Hotel is offering a special promotion: for every NT$2,000 spent between May 1 and May 31, guests can receive one raffle ticket, with a chance to win an overnight stay in the Presidential Suite valued at NT$693,000. Moreover, the hotel has specially launched the “Joyful Elegance” anniversary stay package. From now until September 30, guests who book a stay between May 1 and September 30 can enjoy comfortable accommodation and a classic breakfast at Taipei Mandarin Oriental starting from just NT$10,800 per night.
