30 years of hotel management experience: Michael Ziemer appointed General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Taipei

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group officially appointed Michael Ziemer as the General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Taipei in February 2016. Prior to this, he served as the General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, and has held senior management positions at renowned hotels in Australia, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and other locations, bringing over 30 years of extensive hospitality experience.

Of Australian-German descent, Michael Ziemer is fluent in English and German. He joined Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 2003, initially serving as the Resident Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, and was promoted to General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Munich in 2004 due to his outstanding leadership. In 2007, he moved to Mandarin Oriental, Macau as General Manager, and in 2010 returned to Asia’s financial hub—Hong Kong—to manage The Excelsior.

Before joining Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, he was the General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, and had also held senior management roles at well-known hotels in Australia, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. With over 13 years of deep-rooted hotel management experience in Asia, Michael Ziemer has an in-depth understanding of the overall market. After taking on the role of General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Taipei, he will continue to lead the entire team with his wealth of experience, delivering classic, legendary service to all domestic and international guests.
