Guide: Fengyu Cave gets its name from the abundant oilfish in its underground river and is known as “one cave piercing nine mountains with breathtaking scenery unmatched under heaven,” earning the title of the “No. 1 Cave in Asia.” Situated in Dongli Village, Sanhe Township, Lipu County, it lies 110 km from downtown Guilin, 110 km from downtown Liuzhou, and 16 km from Lipu County Town. It earned its name because the underground river within the cave teems with oilfish. This karst cave spans nine large mountains, stretching 5.3 km in total. Inside, small chambers connect to grand halls, with the largest hall covering over 25,500 square meters. A 2.3 km underground river within the county allows visitors to explore by boat, making it a rare and spectacular karst cave both in China and abroad. The vast caverns, deep underground rivers, and dense clusters of stalagmites create a majestic cave wonderland, earning accolades such as “one cave through nine mountains, ten miles of drifting in the dark river, and breathtaking scenery unmatched under heaven,” and the reputation as the “No. 1 Cave in Asia.” Fengyu Cave is the main component of a provincial-level rural tourism resort and was among the first group of national 3A-level scenic spots. The cave is divided into a dry section and an underground river section. The dry cave stretches 2.2 km, featuring various spectacular formations such as stalagmites, stalactites, and stone curtains that create many wondrous and amusing scenes. Among them, the “Pillar Holding Down the Sea,” a 9.8-meter-long stalactite with a diameter of 14 cm, is considered the cave’s treasure. One hall, spanning over 20,000 square meters, becomes magnificent under colorful lights, giving visitors the impression of being in an underwater dragon palace. In addition, attractions like the “Ice Age,” “Splendid All Directions,” “Heavenly Wonders,” and “Penglai Paradise” are truly a feast for the eyes. The mysterious journey along the underground river is divided into Section A and Section B. Section A is 1.3 km long, featuring three gorges, two caves, and nine skies. Section B is 1 km long and includes paper-thin stones, glistening springs, and silver beaches as beautiful as rainbows. Fengyu Cave is a rare and spectacular karst cave that spans nine large mountains with a total length of 5.3 km. Third, the cave contains dozens of interconnected main and side chambers, making it one of the world’s widest and most uniquely structured cave halls. Fourth, inside one of the halls stands a 9.8-meter-high stalagmite with only a 14 cm diameter—remarkably consistent in size from top to bottom, considered a marvel unique in the world.
