Lipu Tianhe Waterfall is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Tianhe Waterfall Ecotourism Scenic Area is located in Pulu Township, Lipu County, 28 kilometers from the county seat and 132 kilometers from Guilin City. Covering an area of 850 hectares, it combines primeval forests, waterfalls, and Yao ethnic culture to form a uniquely distinctive tourist resort. Everything here retains the unspoiled essence of the primeval forest. The forest lies at an altitude of over 1,500 meters, with vast ancient trees towering densely, teeming with birdsong and floral fragrance. Graceful murmuring streams, tranquil deep mountain forests, unique vegetation and trees, and the beautiful pastoral landscapes create a scene characterized by “seclusion, wonder, lush greenery, tranquility, and beauty.”

The waterfall is situated within a primeval forest conservation area, with a drop of 88 meters.

It has the imposing presence of “water cascading down three thousand feet, as if the Silver River fell from the ninth heaven,” resembling the flow of heavenly river water—hence the name Tianhe (Heavenly River) Waterfall. Up close, the mist is pervasive, and the waterfall presents a myriad of forms: flying blossoms, flowing jade, hanging curtains—all a feast for the eyes. From afar, it resembles a long, wide silver curtain suspended in midair, forming rainbows in the sunlight, complemented by layered rocks, overlapping peaks, and majestic surroundings, creating a dazzling, colorful panorama that is a true delight to behold.

The scenic area features winding mountain paths, towering ancient trees that block out the sun, and secluded, winding trails, all of which are novel, ancient, and strikingly beautiful. Within the area roam yellow goats, deer, and muntjacs, while squirrels and pheasants add playful charm. Numerous streams and pools host leisurely fish and shrimp; both riverbanks are dotted with lush grass and swaying bamboo. Wild orchids exude delicate fragrance, while camellias and azaleas bloom in vivid competition, brilliant as brocade. Strolling through this landscape feels like wandering in a paradise on earth.

Here, you can find Yao-style stilted houses, mountain song duets, and the harmonious sounds of reed pipes and drums. Yao ethnic songs and dances are passionate, unrestrained, and full of vigor. Yao cuisine, featuring grains, millet, and wild vegetables, brings you back to nature. In Yao villages, the sounds of chickens and dogs can be heard, bridges span streams by the village, and waterwheels operated by shepherds create a scene reminiscent of a fairyland, making it hard to tear yourself away.
