The Ancient Banyan Trees of Xiuren in Lipu

The ancient banyan trees of Xiuren are designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Lipu City.

The ancient banyan trees of Xiuren are located at the site of the Xiuren Town government.

There are two ancient banyans standing side by side. Their massive trunks stretch across the sky, covered with lush foliage that provides dense shade all year round. The southern tree has a trunk circumference of 12.65 meters, a crown covering an area of 1,647.48 square meters, and is about 50 meters tall; the northern tree has a trunk circumference of 13 meters, a crown covering an area of 1,421.63 square meters, and is about 45 meters tall.

It is said that both ancient banyans are over 500 years old. To protect the trees, the Xiuren Town People's Government built four sections of protective embankments on both sides of the banyans in 1986. The embankment platforms are equipped with railings, providing visitors with spots to view the trees, rest, and enjoy the cool shade. After the liberation, they were listed as a cultural relic protection unit of Lipu County.
