Guide: Guilin-Ocean World combines sightseeing, education, and entertainment. While admiring fascinating marine life, visitors can also explore the vast ocean culture, making it the perfect place to combine science education with ecological awareness. Introduction: Located south of Guilin Nanxi Park, it was built with an investment of nearly 100 million yuan by Malaysian aquatics expert Mr. Cai Chongrong. It officially opened to the public on September 30, 2003, becoming another highlight of Guilin tourism. Guilin-Ocean World covers an area of about 10,000 square meters, with over 100 aquariums and nearly 1,000 species of fish. The venue is divided into several zones including the viewing area, performance area, tropical rainforest waterfall area, touch zone, underwater tunnel area, ocean area, and Great Barrier Reef area. The marine life in the aquarium is incredibly diverse, including: the giant salamander, which grows up to 1.3 meters in length and can live for over a century, found in deep valleys; the lungfish, an ancient species that has witnessed hundreds of millions of years of geological change; the nautilus (a national top-tier protected creature), known as a “living fossil”; vibrant and colorful live corals; the classic example of marine symbiosis—the clownfish and sea anemone; as well as the rare protected animal from Australia, the Sea Phoenix, valued at 50,000 yuan each; the electric eel from South America, capable of releasing 600V–800V of electricity in an instant; the highly venomous lionfish from Southeast Asia; and you can also see shark eggs in the process of hatching. In addition to observation, visitors can also have close encounters with marine animals: touch adorable little sea turtles, stone crabs, horseshoe crabs, starfish, and truly experience the endless joy the ocean brings to humans. You can also enjoy cute and fun seal performances, exciting group fish feeding shows, graceful mermaid shows, thrilling shark feeding displays, and even the mesmerizing human-shark interaction.
