19 Viewing Spots for Taipei 101 New Year’s Eve Fireworks Revealed

Huang Liyuan, head of the Department of Geotechnical Engineering, said that Xiangshan and Hushan Trails in Xinyi District, located in the Four Beasts Mountain area near Taipei 101, offer the best views and geographical advantages. Coupled with well-developed trail facilities, these have always been the most popular spots for the public to enjoy the New Year’s Eve fireworks. The Department of Geotechnical Engineering has carefully selected 11 viewing locations including Xiangshan Trail and Hushan Trail, providing the public with multiple choices. You won’t have to crowd in the city, jostling with the crowds, or worry about being too close to see the full fireworks display. Enjoy the dazzling firework spectacle in a relaxed and healthy way.

 

Xia Xiantong, head of the Road and Trail Section of the Department of Geotechnical Engineering, said that for those worried about waiting for the New Year getting boring, you can first take the romantic “Hello Kitty” cable car up to Maokong in Wenshan District to enjoy the night view and good tea with family and friends, then head to one of the four excellent viewing spots recommended by the department at the right time to watch the fireworks. Among them, the newly completed “Viewing Platform on the Hiking Trail” this year is located on a small hill next to Mingde Temple on Laoquan Street, about a 30-minute walk from the Maokong Cable Car Station. Passing through the cherry blossom tree-lined paths on both sides of the trail, it takes just a few minutes to climb up and enjoy a vast beautiful night view and enchanting fireworks.

 

If you want to get away from the city center and take in the entire view of the Taipei Basin, He Mingyu, head of the Forest Recreation Section of the Department of Geotechnical Engineering, said there are four major scenic spots: the Yangmingshan, Zhinan, and Xianji Rock areas in Taipei, as well as Jian Nan Butterfly Garden near the Miramar Ferris Wheel. These spots are easily accessible via convenient transportation, all reachable by MRT.
