Lingyang Temple

Lingyang Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Mashan County.

Lingyang Temple was first built during the Yuanyou era (1078) of the mid-Northern Song Dynasty, boasting a history of nearly 1,000 years. The temple covers an area of over 6,000 square meters, including about 600 square meters inside the cave and around 700 square meters outside. The cave features natural formations, offering a cool environment in summer and warmth in winter, with excellent air circulation. It houses a total of 11 Buddha statues, all made from precious white marble and transported from Myanmar, the land of Buddhism. The temple is renowned in Guangxi for the exceptional value, grand scale, and exquisite craftsmanship of these statues. As you walk up the stone steps, you’ll see lush vines clinging to cliffs, green vegetation, birds chirping, and swallows flying, along with temple buildings and elegant pavilions—all hidden within a sea of green. From the rocky heights, you can gaze over picturesque scenes: small bridges over flowing streams, schools and village homes, street views and markets, the coming and going of people and vehicles, and golden waves of rice fields, presenting a beautiful natural landscape. Currently, Lingyang Temple ranks third in influence and scale across Guangxi and has become a well-known Buddhist sacred site both within and beyond the region.
