The Launch Ceremony of the 2018 China-ASEAN Mountain Outdoor Sports Tourism Conference & Rock Climbing Masters Competition (hereinafter referred to as the "Conference") will be grandly held on May 5–6 in Sanjia Tun, Maguling Rock Climbing Town, Malingshan — China’s first rock-climbing themed town.
This Conference is jointly organized by the Chinese Mountaineering Association, the Department of Sports of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the Tourism Development Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and co-hosted by the Nanning Municipal Sports Bureau, the Nanning Tourism Development Committee, the People's Government of Mashan County, Beijing Guo'ao Zhongjian Sports Development Co., Ltd., and Mashan Weima Investment Development Co., Ltd.
Following the successful hosting of the 2017 China-ASEAN Mountain Outdoor Sports Tourism Conference Rock Climbing Elite Challenge in Mashan, and with the care and support from the Climbing Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Mountaineering Association, as well as district and municipal sports bureaus and tourism development committees, China’s first rock-climbing themed town has been successfully established in Mashan. This marks another innovation of the "sports + poverty alleviation" model in Mashan, and also represents another exploration in targeted poverty alleviation through industry-driven prosperity.

Meanwhile, the Rock Climbing Masters Competition will continue the previous “Climb for Love” charity initiative, where every upward climb by the athletes corresponds to a charitable donation. Prior to the event, there will also be a “Charity Climbing Wall” that encourages public participation in a climbing experience to raise awareness for Mashan.
