The Letan Hydropower Station was the first hydropower station to go into operation during the cascade development of the Hongshui River. Its majestic concrete dam blocks the rushing waters, creating the spectacular upstream scenery of “a calm lake emerging from high gorges, with green water reflecting verdant mountains,” rivaling the beauty of Guilin’s Li River and the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.
