Zhushan is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Zhushan is located in the northwest of Qinhuangdao City, just 40 kilometers from the city center. It is a mountainous natural scenic area characterized mainly by its dramatic peaks and beautiful waterscapes.

Zhushan boasts undulating mountain ridges and steep cliffs. Because many peaks to the north of the Bohai Sea and east of the Yanshan Mountains are formed by its branching ridges, it is named the “Ancestor of Mountains.” With sheer cliffs as its backbone, cascading waterfalls as its veins, blooming flowers as its adornment, and lush greenery as its hair, the late poet Zang Kejia praised it as a “landscape painting come to life and a poetic heaven”—a fitting tribute. After visiting Zhushan, former Vice Premier Qian Qichen left an inscription: “Zhushan’s Old Ridge boasts picturesque mountains and clear waters, peculiar rocks and dense forests, with fresh air and soaring clouds.”

The scenic area features steep mountains, rushing streams, and can be described as having towering cliffs for its spine, waterfalls for its veins, dense forests for its hair, and drifting clouds for its robes—uniting grandeur and charm in one. With its unique peaks, extraordinary waters, secluded caves, beautiful rocks, lush woods, and rich grasslands, along with deep historical roots, it is an ideal destination for sightseeing, summer retreats, and scientific exploration.
