Last updated 2026-11-08 — Many years ago, the song "Kangding Love Song" became a nationwide hit, sung by everyone, and the love song not only showcased the beautiful romance of the small town of Kangding but also its stunning scenery. Because of this song, countless hearts began to drift toward the distant town of Kangding......
On June 3, 2018, over a hundred super kids gave themselves a special Children's Day gift on the sunny beaches of Beidaihe!

The "Super Kids" Mini Triathlon Challenge was organized by Rongsheng Health Tourism, primarily targeting children aged 5–11. Its aim is to cultivate children’s interest in sports, help them develop the habit of regular exercise from an early age, and instill the spirit of hard work and perseverance. The event took place at the Arcadia Coastal Resort Hotel, located on the Golden Coast of Beidaihe, featuring a private beach and indoor pool — a perfect choice for family vacations.

The triathlon was specially tailored for kids, keeping the classic three components of swimming, cycling, and running. Each segment balanced challenge with fun, offering a novel format that thoroughly tested the children’s athletic spirit and received an enthusiastic response on-site.

This mini triathlon might have been the first formal sports competition for many young participants. Precisely because of their young age, the kids were filled with curiosity and excitement about the event, wearing confident and sunny smiles. A day before the race, they arrived with their parents to check in, collect their race kits, and attend the pre-race technical briefing to familiarize themselves with the rules and course layout. They spent a warm and comfortable night before the race at the Arcadia Coastal Resort Hotel, which features a private beach and spa — wonder if the beautiful hotel views added to their anticipation for the competition?

The venue opened at 8:00 AM on June 3, 2018. After children's performances and a warm-up session, the race officially started at 9:00 AM.

The race was divided into two age groups: senior (ages 8–11) and junior (ages 5–7), with separate starts. The full event consisted of a 100-meter swim, a 3-kilometer ride on a rainbow-colored track, and a 1-kilometer beach run. Compared to a standard triathlon, the difficulty and distance were significantly reduced, but it still posed a considerable challenge for first-time young participants. Additionally, the race required independent completion, with only staff allowed in the competition area while parents cheered from the sidelines.

After the opening ceremony, athletes and spectators were led by staff to the swimming course. The young athletes all wore timing-chip goggles, and at the starter’s signal, they swam bravely ahead!

Look, the little athletes’ swimming strokes are quite professional too!

After the swim came the transition zone. Changing out of wet clothes into dry sportswear, they hopped onto their bikes for the exciting cycling leg. Parents were nervous for their kids, but remember — parents are not allowed in the race zone. No matter how young, finishing is up to the kids!

At the end of the cycling segment, another transition zone was set up for athletes to park their bikes. Under the guidance of staff, they stored their bikes before heading into the final beach run!

Perseverance is victory!

Throughout the race, the young athletes demonstrated remarkable endurance and vitality. Unafraid of the sun or the water’s depth, they never gave up easily. Whether in the pool or on the sand, they left behind brave and determined figures.

The organizers also thoughtfully provided refreshing summer treats like watermelon, apples, and mineral water to keep participants going, offering full assistance and protection throughout the event to support the fighting spirit of both the young athletes and their families.

After persevering, the finish line finally came into view!

In the end, Cai XuanYang from the senior group was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 23 minutes and 49 seconds, followed by Wang XueLi and Bai ZiQi who secured second and third places. The junior group champion was Ren CiYi with a time of 54 minutes and 30 seconds, while Liu SiRui and Zhao ChenXi took the second and third spots. Awards were given by the organizers to the top eight finishers in both the senior and junior groups.

More important than winning awards was that every child who finished the race had overcome their fear of challenges and defeated their own limits — each one a little hero in their parents’ eyes.

We believe every young athlete gained the joy of perseverance through sweat and determination. We’re proud of you!
