New Australia Underwater World is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The New Australia Underwater World in Qinhuangdao is a large-scale comprehensive exhibition hall primarily showcasing marine life. It was jointly established by China and Australia as a combination of science education, sightseeing, and entertainment. Founded on April 8, 1997, with a registered capital of 7.23 million US dollars and a total investment of approximately 120 million RMB, it covers a construction area of about 130,000 square meters and occupies a land area of about 31 acres. The construction of the underwater world project broke ground on November 1, 1997, and was completed on July 16, 1998. It introduces internationally advanced equipment and aquarium management technology, elevating the entertainment and leisure industry to a whole new level, while also promoting science education in Qinhuangdao as part of its corporate mission.

The underwater world mainly includes the small pool area, penguin pavilion, seal pavilion, touch pool, giant salamander pool, turtle pool, underwater tunnel, performance and rest area, science education classroom, as well as a marine boutique shop and ocean-view restaurant.

The dolphin performance hall officially opened on May 1, 2000, with an investment of nearly 60 million RMB and covering an area of about 3,000 square meters. The three-sided seating can accommodate 2,000 visitors at the same time. From the stands, the performance pool and the sea seem to blend into one. Accompanied by beautiful music, you can not only enjoy the dolphins’ spectacular high-difficulty performances such as aquatic waltzes, ball juggling, jumping through hoops, pole vaulting, and circling bows to the audience; but also witness the outstanding acts of sea lions shooting hoops, underwater breakdancing, and Chinese kung fu. You’ll even have the chance to touch a dolphin, shake hands, and interact, sharing the wonderful experience of harmony between humans and nature.
