Yan Sea Lake

Yan Sea Lake is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

Dongshan Sword Peak is a small island in the middle of Yan Sea Lake. Two streams from the Shih River converge at the foot of the mountain, forming a deep pool. The upper part features steep cliffs and towering green peaks, while midway up the mountain lies a natural cave of unfathomable depth, where snakes and pythons are often seen. Beneath the cave, sheer cliffs drop down to an abyss, and a nearby path used by woodcutters leads to the mountaintop. Legend has it that the cave was formed when the Green Dragon drilled into the mountain and struck it during the battle with the immortal Lü Dongbin. Introduction

Originally known as Shihhe Reservoir, it was created by damming in 1974. Located at the strategic pass of the Yan Mountains, it was named Yan Sea Lake. Yan Sea Lake boasts not only beautiful mountains and clear waters but also peculiar rocks and scenic wonders, resembling a magnificent pearl inlaid beside the ancient Great Wall.

Take bus No. 25 from the South Gate, or bus No. 34 from the train station to Wulitai, then transfer to a minibus to reach the lake area.
