Highlights

As the name suggests, the scenery here is related to "longevity." Indeed, the scenic area showcases the theme of a long and healthy life through various forms such as carvings, architecture, and calligraphy. Especially noteworthy is the Forest of Longevity Character Steles on Shoushan (Longevity Mountain) in the central part of the scenic area, where stones of all sizes and shapes are inscribed with the Chinese character for “longevity” (寿) by calligraphers throughout history. The characters differ in style and font, and among them are masterpieces by renowned calligraphers such as Wang Xizhi, Yan Zhenqing, Ouyang Xun, Mi Fu, and Su Dongpo. This stele forest has thus become a must-visit destination for calligraphy enthusiasts. Being here not only allows you to appreciate traditional Chinese art and culture but also to enjoy the unique charm of the mountain and water scenery.

Located about 9 kilometers northeast of Shanhaiguan City, stretching from Huangniu Mountain in the east along the Changshou River valley in an east-west direction, this is a scenic area that combines natural and cultural landscapes. Major attractions include Xuanyang Cave, Divine Doctor Grottoes, Forest of Longevity Character Steles, and Sandaoguan.

Take bus routes 3, 4, or 25 to Shanhaiguan South Gate, then transfer to a tourist shuttle bus to reach the site.
