Baozigou is situated in Habo Township, Lulong County, Qinhuangdao City, adjacent to Changlu Highway to the west and neighboring Changli Grape Valley. It is widely known for its bountiful grapes and is celebrated as the “Turpan of the Bohai Coast.”

Standing on Dongtuan Mountain in Baozigou and gazing around, the vast vineyards paint the land entirely green. At this time, people on the mountain are like an ant that occasionally climbs to the tip of an umbrella, while those below are the valley dwellers who have been enjoying the cool shade under this umbrella for generations.

There are various legends about the origin of Baozigou. One of them bears some resemblance to the story of Dong Yong and the Seventh Fairy: It is said that in ancient times, a scholar surnamed Bao drifted to this place. While struggling to farm in the mountain valley, he caught the affection of a grape fairy who had descended from heaven to pick grapes. The fairy scattered heavenly grape seeds throughout the valley and irrigated them with earthly water, yielding a valley full of sweet grapes. In the end, however, the Goddess of Heaven forcibly separated the lovers. To commemorate this heavenly-earthly romance, the place was named Baozigou.
