Kongmei Village in Longjiang Town, Huilai County, is an ancient settlement with a history of over 700 years. The village is situated on the northern bank of the Longjiang River, featuring a composite layout with buildings constructed from earthen walls, tiled roofs, and wooden frames.

Kongmei Village is located on the northern bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Longjiang River in Longjiang Town. It lies at the end of the river’s outlet bay area. The village has over 800 households and a population of more than 7,000, all of whom are surnamed Tang. There is also a significant number of overseas Chinese and local dignitaries residing abroad.

Situated in a plain area, the village features a well-organized and neat layout. Its classic old buildings carry the historical legacy and transformations of Kongmei Village over the past 700 years. As early as the Southern Song Dynasty, members of the Luo family lived here. It wasn’t until the late Yuan Dynasty that the fourth-generation ancestor of the Tang clan, Qingxi Gong, settled in Kongmei Village, Huilai.

On December 10, 2018, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development released an important public notice. A total of 2,646 villages across China were included in the fifth batch of the Traditional Chinese Villages list. Among them, 103 villages in Guangdong Province made the list, and only two from Jieyang were selected—Kongmei Village being one of them.

Kongmei Village: Located on the northern bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Longjiang River in Longjiang Town, Huilai County, Kongmei Village is 4 kilometers from the town government. It administers Zhumei Village, with a total population of 4,773 and 57 Party members. The village covers 1,291 mu of arable land, including 946 mu of paddy fields and 45 mu of dryland. The village has well-established organizations such as the Communist Youth League, Women’s Federation, Militia, and Elderly Association. The village’s two committees consist of eight members who demonstrate strong leadership. Kongmei Village enjoys convenient transportation and a pleasant environment.
