The Great Buddha's Summit Vajra Sutra Pagoda is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Lulong Vajra Sutra Pagoda

The Lulong Vajra Sutra Pagoda is located at the intersection within the south gate of Lulong County. Its east, south, and west sides are paved with concrete roads, while the north side is an earthen road.

The Lulong County Vajra Sutra Pagoda is an octagonal structure. According to the *Record of the Stone Pagoda in Pingzhou*, the stone pagoda was initially built during the Yifeng era of the Tang Dynasty. Later, on “May 20th of the fourth year of the Zhenglong reign, it was toppled by a violent storm.” The current stone pagoda was rebuilt in the ninth year of the Dading reign of the Jin Dynasty (1169) and completed in the eleventh year, exhibiting craftsmanship ten times more exquisite than before.

The fourth section of the pagoda bears the inscription *Record of the Reconstruction of the Beiping Stone Pagoda*, and the final inscription reads: “Erected on the first day of the eleventh month in the 28th year of the Wanli era of the Great Ming, year of Gengzi (1600 AD).” This indicates that the Lulong Vajra Sutra Pagoda underwent restoration in the 28th year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1600 AD), though details of the specific repairs are unknown.

On the left and right sides of a limestone railing slab positioned at the center of the east side of the pagoda’s base are inscriptions reading “July, 19th year of the Guangxu era (1893 AD), jointly funded by the assembly” and “Respectfully offered by Zhao Mingyuan, one slab of stone,” suggesting that at least minor repairs were carried out in the 19th year of the Guangxu era.

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, on September 7, 1956, the People’s Committee of Hebei Province approved the Lulong Vajra Sutra Pagoda as one of the first batch of Key Cultural Relics Protection Units in Hebei Province.
