The current Strange House and Fantastic Garden was redesigned and rebuilt in 1991 based on the architectural style of the original Strange House. It is located on Heishi Road along the Beidaihe Beach, and the name of the garden was inscribed by the renowned Chinese cartoonist Hua Junwu. It was constructed in the style of the old Strange House in the garden courtyard of the former Dongshan Horticultural Farm on Beidaihe Beach, which was widely known. It is one of the main scenic spots in the Beidaihe Scenic Area, covering an area of ninety acres, with the building itself spanning 999 square meters. The Strange House and Fantastic Garden takes advantage of the original natural landform, inherits the essence of history, and draws on the strengths of various scenic spots both within and outside the park. In terms of overall design and artistic pursuit, it strives for the unusual and the bizarre, featuring ninety-nine unique and strange scenes that fully reflect modern aesthetic sensibilities and a uniquely distinctive charm. In this colorful world, a sense of fantasy accompanies you at all times, making you feel as if you’ve entered a vibrant fairy-tale realm. Here, your childlike wonder will be sparked, and you’ll be so enchanted you won’t want to leave.

The Strange House: Mysterious and unpredictable, with hidden passageways connecting various spaces, rock formations and waterfalls, rope bridges over corridors, multiple doors and rooms that are hard to distinguish as real or fake; human-bodied monsters, extraterrestrial visitors; an underwater world accompanied by shipwrecks; a giant stone lampshade, beauties playing in the water; the Crystal Palace, glittering and translucent; mirrors that bring you fate, reverse setups that defy logic, truly unbelievable; inverted spaces, blessings from the God of Longevity, uniquely designed, with crooked doors and skewed paths, a center that defies control; multi-faceted curved mirrors; tree branches intertwined in odd shapes; tightrope walking and stepping on flower piles—limitless fun; climbing one hundred and eight steps, journeying with the immortals across the sea or following Chang’e to the moon; touching the golden dragon coiled around the pillar, ascending to “Pierce the Cloudy Sky,” where beautiful scenery unfolds before your eyes.

The Fantastic Garden: Lush pines and cypresses, shaded by green trees, with flowers blooming everywhere and birds singing in chorus; the Sound Path, the Magical Sound Barrels, offering endless fascination; peculiar chairs and strange benches, inviting you to take a rest; immortals playing chess, with unfinished games waiting to be solved; cascading springs and fountains, monstrous rocks, and hidden passages leading to serene corners; under the fragrant vine trellis, cool off while sipping tea; wild charm and playful fun abound, brimming with delightful surprises. The Fantastic Garden takes on a surreal and magical appearance at night; glowing boulders, fireworks like flaming trees and silver blossoms, as well as colorful fountains in the Fairy Pool and Dance Pool.
