Tangxi Reservoir

Also known as Raoping North Lake, Tangxi Reservoir is located in the middle reaches of the Huanggang River, 38 kilometers from the county seat Huanggang. It was built between November 1958 and December 1959.

The reservoir area is bordered by Zhujing in the northeast, Huqiao Hot Springs in the south, Taoyuan Cave in the west, and Sanrao Tashan Mountain in the north, covering an area of about 40 to 50 square kilometers. With a water surface area of 200,000 square meters and a water storage capacity of over 280 million cubic meters, it is the largest artificial lake in the Chaoshan region. Surrounded by rolling green mountains, the shimmering lake once had 72 peaks, all of which are now islands, making it a renowned tourist destination.

Tip: Boats can be rented at the nearby dock near the Tangxi Reservoir dam for lake tours. Ticket Information & Opening Hours
