Dr. Zhang Jing-sheng Park

Dr. Zhang Jing-sheng Park is located in Jiuzhaiyuan, Darongpu, Fubin Town, the hometown of Dr. Zhang Jing-sheng, a renowned cultural figure in China.

Dr. Zhang Jing-sheng (1888–1970) was one of the three most famous doctors in China during the early Republican era. At the age of 18, he joined the Xinhai Revolution and was entrusted by Dr. Sun Yat-sen with the important role of secretary for the North-South Peace Talks. He later obtained a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Lyon in France and was appointed as a professor in the Philosophy Department at Peking University. In the early 20th century, he directly participated in China’s first publicly promoted sex education campaign. His progressive ideas on sexology brought about the “first wave” of sexology in China. He advocated for reducing the overall population and promoted “birth control,” earning him the titles “China’s First Sexologist” and “Pioneer of Family Planning in China.” He was a prominent figure in China’s intellectual and cultural circles during the 1920s. Dr. Zhang Jing-sheng Park consists of his former residence and a main exhibition hall, primarily showcasing the legendary life of Dr. Zhang Jing-sheng to help people gain more knowledge about sex culture and promote social harmony and development. It is now a Guangdong Provincial Base for Sex Culture Education.
