Qiandao Lake Scenic Area
Known as "Qiandao Lake," Tangxi Reservoir is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Huanggang River, 38 kilometers from the county seat. Completed in 1959, the reservoir is a large-scale comprehensive project serving water storage, irrigation, flood control, power generation, fish farming, and tourism. With a catchment area of 667 square kilometers and a water storage capacity of around 300 million cubic meters—equivalent to that of three Ming Tombs Reservoirs—it is the largest artificial lake in the Chaoshan region. The dam stands 180 feet high, turning 72 mountain peaks into islands scattered across the lake. Surrounded by mountains and lush peaks, the scenic area boasts beautiful scenery and pleasant vistas, along with convenient transportation. Especially renowned is its signature dish, “Fish Head Banquet,” which captivates visitors, making it a widely celebrated tourist destination.
