Rao Ping Zhenfeng Pagoda

Rao Ping Zhenfeng Pagoda is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Guangdong Province.

Zhenfeng Pagoda is situated at the western foot of Fengchui Ridge, about 1 kilometer northeast of Tuolin Town, Rao Ping County. As Tuolin is located along the coast and has frequently been hit by wind and tidal disasters, the ancient people built the pagoda on the ridge's high point facing the sea, at a windward spot where the wind roars all year round. The purpose was to subdue the wind and calm the waters, hence its name. It was built in February of the 13th year of the Zhi Zheng era of the Yuan Dynasty (1353), stands 22 meters tall, with a base circumference of 16 meters, and has seven stories and eight sides. Each story of the pagoda is covered with stone slabs, allowing visitors to climb up to each floor via a spiral stone staircase inside. The pagoda corridors are also equipped with stone railings. Each level has round windows and arched gates, allowing visitors to step out onto the corridor and enjoy the mountain scenery. In 1985, the Provincial Cultural Relics Management Committee allocated funds for its renovation. In June 1989, it was listed as a provincial-level cultural heritage protection site.

It is surrounded by the sea on three sides and borders Chaozhou Port. The town covers a total area of 12.3 square kilometers and has a population of 16,887.
