Nan Yang Lou is situated in Yongshan Village, Shangshan Town, Rao Ping County, adjacent to Da Pu County. Constructed in the second year of the Jianwen era of the Ming Dynasty (1400 AD), the structure is round-shaped, with its main entrance oriented 34 degrees northwest. It spans an area of 1,561 square meters, has a diameter of 44.6 meters, a perimeter of 138.44 meters, and stands 10.76 meters tall with three and a half floors and a double-courtyard layout featuring one central courtyard. The building comprises 26 rooms, all built with rammed earth. At the center of the courtyard is a circular plaza and a well. Above the entrance gate, the name “Nan Yang Lou” is inscribed in intaglio, flanked by a pair of couplets. It is one of the better-preserved structures among the 655 earthen buildings and fortified villages in Rao Ping County.
