Huanggang Mingxian Yu Family Ancestral Hall

The Huanggang Mingxian Yu Family Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Raoping County.

The Mingxian Yu Family Ancestral Hall is located in Chuxiang Neighborhood Committee, Huanggang Town, Raoping County. It was first built in the 10th year of the Xuande era of the Ming Dynasty (1435), and underwent renovations during the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty, the Republican period, and in 1993. Facing south and situated to the north, it features a two-courtyard, two-corridor, two-fire-alley layout, with a front courtyard and a screen wall. It spans 24 meters in width and 49 meters in depth, covering an area of approximately 1,176 square meters. With a flush-gable roof, gray-tiled roofing, rammed earth and plaster walls, and a wooden frame structure with melon-shaped brackets, it also boasts decorations such as stone drums, stone carvings, wood carvings, and ceramic inlays. The lintel stone is inscribed with “Mingxian Yu Family Ancestral Hall.” This ancestral hall was the ancestral home of Yu Jicheng, leader of the Huanggang “Triad Society” and one of the leaders of the Huanggang 1907 Uprising who later joined the Revolutionary Alliance. It now houses the Huanggang 1907 Revolution Exhibition Hall. In September 2009, it was designated as a patriotic education base in Chaozhou City, holding significant historical value. In April 2011, it was announced as a county-level cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of Raoping County.
