Tomb of Yu Wenying

The Tomb of Yu Wenying is a cultural relic protection unit of Raoping County.

The Tomb of Yu Wenying is located at Tadi in Shentu Village, Lianrao Town, Raoping County. Yu Wenying was a successful candidate in the imperial examination during the Yuan Dynasty and was appointed as a judge of the Fengchuan Pacification Commission. The tomb was originally built in the second year of the Zhi Zheng era of the Yuan Dynasty (1322), renovated in the seventeenth year of the Hongzhi era of the Ming Dynasty (1504), damaged during the Cultural Revolution, and restored again in 1992. It serves as the ancestral tomb for the Yu clan of Huanggang Town. Oriented from east to west, the tomb covers an area of approximately 480 square meters. It features a five-bay pavilion-style structure made of stone, with a spacious layout and unique design. A number of stone carvings and inscriptions from the Yuan and Ming dynasties are preserved here, making it a distinctive and grand-scale mausoleum within Raoping County. Now well-preserved, it provides valuable reference material for the study of Yuan Dynasty burial practices, and holds significant historical and artistic value. In April 2011, it was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit by the People’s Government of Raoping County.
