Yongchang Building

The Yongchang Building is a cultural heritage site protected by Raoping County.

The Yongchang Building is located in Yangxia Natural Village, Bashang Village, Shangrao Town, Raoping County, and was built in the 19th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1754). Facing west and situated to the east, it has a circular layout with a diameter of 44 meters and covers a total area of approximately 2,308 square meters. It is a two-courtyard enclosed building complex: a single-story section at the front and a three-story building at the rear. The second floor features corridors that run all around, while the third floor has doorways between rooms, allowing interconnectivity throughout. There is an inner courtyard in the center, and the building is divided into 26 living spaces, with one well inside and one pond in front of the building. The gate tower and lintel are constructed of stone, with the lintel inscribed in relief with the characters “Yongchang Building” and the date “Qianlong Jiayou Year.” The base is made of stone, and the walls are built from rammed yellow earth. The roof is covered with gray tiles, featuring overhanging eaves. Despite the passage of time, the building remains well-preserved. Its grand and imposing architectural style makes it a typical example of earthen building construction from the Qing Dynasty, holding certain historical and artistic value. In April 2011, it was designated as a county-level cultural heritage site by the People’s Government of Raoping County.

Shangrao Town: Shangrao Town is located in the northern part of Raoping County. The town is surrounded by mountains on the east, west, and north. It borders Fujian Province to the east, Dabu County of the same province to the west, Raoyang Town of the same county to the south, and Shangshan Town to the north. The town covers an area of 52.67 square kilometers, with mountainous land totaling over 40,000 mu and arable land of 10,670 mu. It has a total population of 41,865 and administers 13 village committees as well as two residential committees: Maoshi and Bashang. The main grain crops include rice, wheat, dryland crops, and sweet potatoes, while cash crops consist of tea, lychee, longan, plum, olive, and pomelo.
