Rao Ping Taihua Building

The Rao Ping Taihua Building is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province.

The Taihua Building is located in Lanwu Village, Raoyang Town, Rao Ping County, and was built in the ninth year of the Jiaqing reign during the Qing Dynasty (1804). It faces west and has a square, chamfered shape, covering a total area of approximately 2,385 square meters. It is a two-courtyard enclosed building, with a single-story structure at the front and a three-story building at the rear. The second floor features a surrounding corridor for passage, and there is an inner courtyard in the center. The building is divided into 26 rooms, with an ancestral hall directly opposite the main gate, one well, and one pond in front of the gate. The gate tower and lintel are constructed of stone, with the lintel inscribed in relief with the characters “Taihua Building” and the date “Built in the Jiaqing Jiayin Year.” The lower part is built with block stones, while the upper part is rammed earth with yellow clay. The interior walls are coated with plaster, the roof is covered with gray tiles, and the eaves are cantilevered. The building is well-preserved, features a unique architectural style, and holds significant historical and artistic value. In April 2011, it was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit by the People’s Government of Rao Ping County. In 2012, it was listed as part of the seventh batch of cultural relic protection units of Guangdong Province by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province.
