Donghu Ridge is located in the eastern part of Dahao Island, between the Greater Watch Hill and the Lesser Watch Hill. At the top of the ridge stands the "Lake View Pavilion." Below the ridge lies a reservoir called the "Lingjiao Reservoir," which is an important water conservancy facility in Dahao. The Lingjiao Reservoir was first built in 1959 and completed in 1962. It has a main dam that is 175 meters long, a secondary dam that is 70 meters long, a dam crest that is 3 meters wide, and a dam height of 11.5 meters. The catchment area is 0.58 square kilometers, and the reservoir capacity is 175,000 cubic meters.

In the past, before roads were built, Donghu Ridge was the only route for villagers from Donghu and Guezhou to reach Dahao Town. Today, with social development and improved transportation, Donghu Ridge is no longer a necessary path for villagers going out, but it remains heavily frequented. Every morning and evening, many residents of Dahao climb Donghu Ridge to breathe fresh air and exercise. It is said that many people who previously had health issues have recovered and regained strong physiques through regular climbs up Donghu Ridge over the years. Therefore, the locals have given Donghu Ridge a lovely name: the “Path to Health.”

Dahao Subdistrict: Located in the central part of the district, Dahao Subdistrict borders Guang’ao Subdistrict to the east, extends to the Dahao section of the Shenshan Expressway to the west, faces – to the south, and connects to the Shantou Bay Bridge to the north. It covers a total area of 20.2 square kilometers. Established in early 1987, it administers 10 neighborhood committees—Hao Bin, Dahao, Dabu, Chigang, Chilong, Qinglan, Qinglin, Qingyan, Gezhou, and Xidui—as well as three fishing economic cooperatives: Baofan, Fangdiao, and Chihao. The subdistrict has a total population of over 73,000, with nearly 30,000 overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. It is the seat of the district government and serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of the entire district.
