From September 11 to 23, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau of Macau and its outlying islands will host a series of “The Moon Illuminates Praia Grande” Mid-Autumn Festival events, allowing residents and visitors to celebrate the joy of reunion under the full moon with family and friends. Events include the “Lantern Appreciation and Moon Gazing Event,” “Colorful Paper Lantern Folding Art Workshop,” “Happy Gathering Mooncake-Making Game Area,” and “Traditional Mid-Autumn Stories Photo Exhibition.” With such a rich variety of activities, it would be a pity to miss them!

Among the events, the “Lantern Appreciation and Moon Gazing Event” will take place on the evening of September 22 (the 15th day of the eighth lunar month) at 8:30 PM in Tap Seac Square. A large creative tree will be set up on-site, where moon-gazers can join the “Colorful Paper Lantern Folding Art Workshop.” Instructors will guide participants in folding paper panda ornaments and various colorful fruit and flower designs. When illuminated, these lanterns will light up the night and enhance the festive atmosphere. The event will also feature a “Happy Gathering Mooncake-Making Game Area” and a “Traditional Mid-Autumn Stories Photo Exhibition,” offering participants and children a more diverse and enriching experience of traditional culture and art. These activities aim to uncover the fun side of the festival and the joy of artistic creation, serving as a platform to promote traditional festive culture.
On the evening of the event, the Guangdong Song and Dance Art Troupe will perform a special program featuring traditional ethnic music, singing, joyful dances, acrobatics, magic, entertaining Mid-Autumn stories, and photo opportunities with actors dressed as Chang’e. The troupe consists of top artistic talents from Guangdong Province, including performers Lin Xianhui, singers Xu Chanjuan, Wu Simeng, dancers Chen Shanshan, Wen Yuyan, and Lu Qianfan, among others. It includes young vocalists who have won the Gold Award at the 2009 National Music Competition (Golden Bell Awards) and first and second place in the Guangzhou regional finals of the first “Teresa Teng Song Contest.” Some performers have been invited multiple times to tour Japan, Canada, Switzerland, Vienna’s Golden Hall, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, earning widespread acclaim for their exceptional talent.

Other evening events at different venues are equally exciting, featuring a variety of programs such as performances of classic songs, Cantonese opera, tea garden moon appreciation, lantern riddles, and Go games—offering fun for all to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival together.
