Macau Tourism Carnival Kicks Off – See the Ruins of St. Paul’s in Taipei from Now Until August 6

The Macao Special Administrative Region Government Tourism Office is hosting the “Macau FUN in Summer Tourism Carnival” from today (31st) to August 6. The event features replicas of Macau’s local architecture and landmarks at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park in Taipei, allowing visitors to experience Macau’s travel vibe without leaving the city.

In her speech at the opening ceremony, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Secretary for Administration and Development of the Macao SAR Government Tourism Office, stated that Taiwan has consistently been Macau’s third-largest source market. In the first five months of this year, 460,000 Taiwanese visitors entered Macau, maintaining the same level as the same period last year. Of these, 200,000 Taiwanese visitors stayed overnight in Macau, representing a 2.25% increase compared to the same period last year.

In addition to exciting performances such as Portuguese folk dance and racing-themed dances, another highlight of the “Macau FUN in Summer Tourism Carnival” is a large-scale visual illusion interactive installation. Visitors can unleash their creativity by posing atop a replica of Macau’s historic landmark, the Ruins of St. Paul’s, and taking commemorative photos. The site also offers specially designed Macau-themed postcards by Lu’s. Visitors can fill out the postcards and drop them in the on-site mailbox to receive them after the event concludes. Participants who complete various challenge activities not only get to sample free Macanese herbal tea or grass jelly but also have a chance to win a two-night, three-day Macau travel package for two.

Additionally, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Macau’s successful application to have the “Historic Centre of Macau” inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the Macao Economic and Cultural Office, in collaboration with the Macao SAR Government Tourism Office and the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is hosting the “Splendors of the Pearl River Delta – A Closer Look at Macau’s Cultural Heritage” exhibition at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park in Taipei from July 31 to August 9. The exhibition showcases Macau’s achievements in cultural heritage preservation over the years. Through detailed descriptions and photo displays, it aims to give Taiwanese visitors a deeper understanding of the cultural characteristics of the “Historic Centre of Macau.”
